Expectations:
There are three expectations I am going to focus on reinforcing for the remainder of this year:
1) Turning in reading logs and Thursday folders
2) Completing a written response during reading rotations (3x per week)
3) Morning work each day
Please have a conversation with your kiddos about this at home (we will discuss it at school as well). It's important they get in the habit of all these things as it will prepare them for third grade responsibilities!
I am not sending a paper for reading logs home anymore, please have your kiddo keep track of their reading on a piece of paper or in a notebook to send in every Friday. If you want a notebook, please let me know!
Here is the letter I send out about the walk to NE:
Dear Families,
We are excited to announce that the second graders will be going on the annual field trip to Northeast! Please read the email below with the important details about the event.
We will be going on our annual field trip to Northeast Elementary School on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Second grade students will walk down to Northeast for an opportunity to meet the third grade teachers and get a tour of the school. After their time at Northeast, students will board a bus and be taken to the Pinery Fire Station Park for a pizza party and to participate in some fun activities. There is no charge for this field trip, but each student needs to bring their own water bottle. If your child does not eat pizza please make sure they come to school with their own sack-lunch from home.
Please follow the directions below in this email to sign the permission slip through “My School Bucks”. It is due by April 22nd so that the front office has all of the information that they need for the field trip to run smoothly. Students without permission will not be able to attend the field trip.
See the SignUp genius if you wish to volunteer with a specific activity at the park. Don’t worry if the slots fill up, we will need additional volunteers as “floaters” to help navigate our kiddos to each station, so please come anyway! We are also looking for snack donations if you are unable to sign up for the day of the event. Here is the link to the signup.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
